Who is pulling media strings?

"Johnson had an affair."
"Johnson tried to give his lover a job."
"Johnson tried to give his lover a taxpayer-funded job."
Not news. After all, it's pretty well established that he did this with Arcuri as well.
What's most interesting today is this story - which is definitely a matter of probity in public life - appeared in early editions of the Times (and also the Mail), but then DISAPPEARED without comment in later editions. The Guardian covers this here, the Irish Times here and the London Economic here.
Another scandal for the PM is hardly a surprise - after all, it's been nearly a week since the last one. But who shut the story down? And how? And why?
